These are all previous partners and projects in our DFA Chapter over the years.
Many students at Case Western did not know about or take advantage of all the resources at Kelvin Smith Library (KSL). This team designed an interactive flow chart to guide students to the resource they need (and maybe didn't know existed). They also re-designed the layout of the first floor of the library to make the available resources more clear.
Many hospital patients don't have a clear understanding of their medical journey. This team focused on the surgical oncology patients at Cleveland Clinic and designed a patient portal that is easy to use, making important medical information easily accessible by the patient.
When 1/3 of the houses in a neighborhood don't have internet access, it can be difficult to foster community engagement. This team created a series of bulletin boards to be placed around the community. The boards posted important information and community resources as well as creating a gathering place and featuring art by local artists.
This team tackled residential composting, designing a food waste collection bin that was adaptable to the needs of many consumers and with the Rust Belt Riders collection process. They also used the bin to introduce the benefits of a zero-waste lifestyle and encourage users to participate.
